Russian Olympic Committee thinks Belarus is Russian region (Photo)

The edition Kyiv Post has managed to find out why the birthplaces of over 30 sportsmen representing Russia at the Olympic Games are wrong.

All of them were not born in Russia, however, the Olympic questionnaires claim to the contrary. At the same time, such cities and Kiev, Lutsk and Hrodna, as well as "Belarusian Region" and "Armenian Region" are marked as parts of Russia.

Tim Potter, representative of the London Olympics' website, has blamed national Olympic committees for the mistakes in an interview with Kyiv Post. He says that they were responsible for presenting sportsmen's biographical information.

It turns out that such information about sportsmen was presented by the Russian Olympic Committee and it was published on the website of the 2012 Olympics without verification.

Let us note that the website of the Olympic Games says that volleyball player Alexander Butsko was born in the "Russian" city of Hrodna and volley ball player Tatstsyana Koshaleva was born in... Belarusian Region, Russia.
