Friends of the photographer demanded the release of the detained journalist.

In the public areas of the capital,friends of Anton Suryapin posted posters that describe the detention of the photographer and demand his release.

As previously reported by the website charter97.org, a student of the Institute of Journalism of BSU was the first one who posted in the internet pictures of teddy bears, dropped on July 4 over the Ivyanets city and Minsk by a Swedish aircraft, which crossed the state border without permission. According to Anton, photographs were sent to him via e-mail. On July 13, Anton Suryapin was detained by KGB officers on suspicion of "aiding and abetting the illegal border crossing, organized by a group of persons". He faces up to seven years in prison.
