Former head of secretariat of “council of republic” to be tried

A criminal case against Hleb Bedrytski, a former head of the secretariat of the “council of the republic”, has been sent to the Supreme Court to lay the venue.

BelaPAN has learned the news from the Prosecutor General's Office.

We remind that Bedrytski, who was detained by the law-enforcement agencies in late October 2011, is charged with abuse of power and office.

Sending materials of the case to the court means Bedrytsi's motion to Lukashenka to relieve him of criminal responsibility was dismissed.

Hleb Bedrytski was born on January 27, 1974, in Navapolatsk (the Vitebsk region). He graduated from Belarusian State Polytechnic  Academy (Industrial and Civil Engineering) in 1996 and the Academy of Public Administration under the Aegis of the President (World Economy and International Economic Relations) in 2000. He worked for the Ministry of Architecture and Construction of the Republic of Belarus, the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Germany, the Staff of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus. He was appointed head of the secretariat of the “council of the republic” in September 2003. He was awarded with  a Certificate of Honour of the “national assembly”.
