Salihorsk dwellers called to boycott “election”

Leaflets with calls to boycott the “election” to the “house of representatives” are actively spread in Salihorsk.

“Boycott is our choice! Let's prepare new elections without Lukashenka!” authors of the leaflets address Salihorsk dwellers, Viasna human rights centre reports.

Human rights activists from Salihorsk say numerous political movements in the region support the idea of boycotting. Local representatives of the Belarusian Christian Democracy party, Conservative Christian Party of the BPF, European Belarus civil campaign stand against any form of involvement in the “election farce”.

European Belarus campaign representatives hold regular actions of solidarity with political prisoners and deliver newspapers Vybor promoting idea of boycotting in the region.

Members of the United Civil Party support an idea of a partial boycott. The party nominated two candidates in two constituencies in Salihorsk, but plans to withdraw them a week before the voting day.
