Journalist Gennady Barbarich received a warning

Minsk City Prosecutor's Office has officially warned the journalist Gennady Barbarich about the inadmissibility of violation of the Belarusian legislation.

As Barbarich reported to BelaPAN, he received a warning on August 14 for cooperation with "Radio Racyja". "I was officially warned for my work with the foreign media in Belarus without accreditation", - said the journalist.

He noted that he works as a freelance journalist and is not connected with "Radio Racyja" formally. "Right now, I think, what to do. I may try to formalize my cooperation with "Racyja" and get accreditation of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry. Although, judging from the experience of my colleagues, such attempts always were unsuccessful. Unfortunately prosecutors see a violation in operating without accreditation, but see no violations in the fact that journalists are denied accreditation", - said Barbarich.

The journalist also said that "will think about whether to appeal against the warning". "I do not want to waste time and money on courts, which, I fear, will not give results", - said Barbarich.

“Radio Racyja” broadcasts to Belarus from Bialystok (Poland) since 1999. Employees of the radio station attempted to get accreditation in Belarus many times, but they still have not succeeded.
