Milinkevich denied registraton, Lyabedzka and Kastusyou registered

On recommendation of CEC head Lidzia Yarmoshyna, constituency election commissions across Belarus register parliamentary candidates on August 22.

Leader of For Freedom Movement Alyaksandr Milinevich was nominated through collection of signatures as candidate in constituency No. 109 in Minsk.

The politician was not registered as a parliamentary candidate. The ground is that 15% of signatures were found invalid by the constituency election commission. Signatures were examined by criminal experts from the Interior Ministry. Besides, his income and asset declaration raised questions: Milinkevich declared a house as his private property, but didn't declare the land (though he is only a life tenant of the land and does not have it in private property).

The leader of the United Civil Party, Anatol Lyabedzka, was registered as a parliamentary candidate.

“It's strange, but I have passed registration,” Lyabedzka said.

Former presidential candidate, deputy head of BPF party Ryhor Kastusyou, and BPF deputy head Alyaksandr Straltsou were registered as candidates.
