OSCE ODIHR mission has received an office in the hotel " Yubileiny"

OSCE ODIHR monitoring mission managed to agree on the location of its office in Minsk.

As mission specialist on Media, Francesca Bojeri reported to BelaPAN, that office has been located in the hotel " Yubileiny" on the 7th floor.

Recall, at a press conference in Minsk on August 22 the head of the observation mission Antonio Milošoski said that the mission has not yet managed to get a place for the office. "We have already reported this to the Foreign Ministry and the CEC. Recently, I spoke on the phone with the new Minister of Foreign Affairs (Uladimir Makei. - BelaPAN.), and he promised that the Ministry would do everything possible to resolve the issue", - said Milošoski.

Francesca Bojeri also reported that long-term observers of OSCE ODHIR had already started arriving to Minsk. "Some are already here, some will arrive today during the day. Today we have a day of arrival", - she said.

OSCE ODIHR has sent to Belarus 36 long-term observers to the "parliamentary elections", which will be held on September 23.

In addition, the progress of the "elections" to the Belarusian "parliament" will be monitored by 270 short-term observers from OSCE ODIHR, which will be deployed just before the "elections" across the country in teams of two people to monitor the opening of polling stations, voting, counting and tabulation of results.

Earlier it was reported that on August 21 in Minsk its work has already started a core team of observers from the OSCE ODIHR, which consists of 11 people representing eight OSCE participating states.

"The mission of the observers will evaluate these "elections" on the fact of their compliance with OSCE commitments and other international standards of democratic elections, as well as national legislation. Observers will monitor campaign activities, the work of election administration and relevant governmental agencies, the implementation of legislative framework, and the resolution of electoral disputes. As part of the observation, the observers will conduct a comprehensive monitoring of the media", - is said on the website of OSCE ODIHR.

After the "elections" ODIHR will make a statement about preliminary findings and conclusions on a press conference. The final report on the observation of the entire electoral process will be issued approximately eight weeks after the completion of the observation mission.

On 110 seats in the "house of representatives" pretend 363 registered candidates. Belarusian CEC refused to register 124 applicants; seven more representatives have refused to continue to participate in the campaign.
