Explosion on bearing plant in Minsk (Photo)

A workshop on the plant was damaged as a result of an explosion.

Readers of TUT.BY portal report about an incident on the Minsk Bearing Plant. They say they heard  an explosion near the plant. Later, a plant worker phoned journalists and said there was a blast that caused damage to one of the workshops.

Journalists called Minsk rescue team.

“We received information about an explosion of gas-air mixture without following fire in a room for storing parts and compotents in the foundry of the forging shop on the Minsk Bearing Plant in 2 Zhylunovich Street,” the assistant director of the Minsk city department of the Emergency Ministry, Vitaly Dembovski, told the portal. “The building of the forging shop with a size of  150 by 100 metres  has three storeys, brick walls and floor slabs of reinforced concrete.

The blast caused a partial collapse of dividing brick walls (60 square metres) and floors (90 square metres) in a facility for storing parts and components. Windows in the forging shop were damaged. No people were injured.”

Experts from the Emergency Ministry and  investigate bodies are working in the forging shop. They are trying to find what caused the explosion. The people guilty of the incident may be brought to responsibility.

A reader told charter97.org on conditions of anonimity, authorities of the Minsk Bearing Plant tried to hide the fact of the explosion. They called a rescue team only after they realized they would have to do it in any case. The reader says it was a stroke of luck that nobody was injured.
