KGB revenges to employee of "Europe" because of information about surveillance of lodgers

Employee of the hotel "Europe" Dmitry Ivanchenko was fired from his job, arrested and accused of beating his neighbor.

In November, 2011, an anonymous person told charter97.org that all the rooms in hotel d’Europe, the most luxurious and expensive hotel in Belarus, are tapped by the KGB. The hotel was called “the most transparent hotel in Europe” then.

The source also told that all the hotel personnel is selected by the KGB.

The tapping equipment is said to be situated in a room on the third floor, and the vans with additional devices are used when “very important guests” arrive at the hotel.

The security service of the hotel is responsible for collecting the information and it has access to all rooms.

Specially trained prostitutes also participate in ‘datamining’.

The secret services are especially interested in the citizens of Poland and Germany. Their visits are usually thoroughly “prepared” and all their meetings are recorded on audio and video: the corridors and some rooms have video surveillance systems installed.

However, today a man named Dzmitry Ivanchanka, who said he was the fitness instructor in the hotel, confirmed the information and claimed himself to be that anonymous source. He said about it charter97.org.

Mr. Ivashchanka noted that he was oppressed by the KGB as he was the member of Revolution Through Social Networks Internet-community (the community was coordinating the “silent protest” all around the country last summer) and summoned for questionings.

The article became the response to the pressure from the secret services, Mr. Ivashcanka said.

However, on May 18, six policemen apprehended Dzmitry Ivashchanka near his house in Minsk. He was accused of using obscene language in public and delivered to a police station and asked to sign the police report.

“They promised I would be only fined if I signed it. I bought that and admitted my guilt. However, I they sentenced me for 15 days in jail.”

“During my arrest, the people from the KGB and Presidential Security Service visited me and demanded me to stop contacting mass media.

“They required recognizance if I wanted to leave the prison alive,” Mr. Ivashchanka told.

He gave the recognizance, but after his release left the country on June 26. Now he found a job and continues his education.

However, the KGB does not give up so easily.

“My relatives called me last week and told I was sent a summons to appear in court on August 31. I am charged with inflicting bodily harm. The claimant is my neighbour Alla Vaskabovich. Her son was in prison, and it’s very simple to pressurize her.”

The most intriguing detail is that the case against Mr. Ivashchanka was initiated when he was already abroad.

The court representatives said the trial is to be conducted in absentia if he does not appear before the court.

Dzmitry is sure the law enforcement agencies want to take their vengeance this way.
