Tatsiana Revyako: "Elections" in 2008 and the present ones - heaven and earth

Only after analyzing regional newspapers, you can already tell who will be in the "parliament".

Human rights activist Tatsiana Revyako told to the website charter97.org the difference between the situation on current "elections" and the previous ones.

"If to compare the political background of 2008 and today, this is heaven and earth, they are very different. During the last "elections" political prisoners were released and there was a period of liberalization. And now the "elections" are held in an environment, where participants of previous "elections" are in prison. These "elections" cannot be called free from the very beginning", - said human rights activist.

"Elections" are sluggish

"We observe the absence of an overall strategy. In general, the "elections" are rather sluggish; we do not see any activity. At the last "elections" to the "parliament" was a large number of candidates for "deputies” seats, and there were more opportunities for campaigning and collecting signatures. This year, all is governed by specially prepared laws. In fact, candidates for "deputies" can run a campaign only at the backyard", - said the human rights activist.

Yarmoshina is a prime candidate for "deputy"

"We see certain calm in the state media, which give a minimum of information about the "elections". Lydia Yarmoshina - the only engine of this process. TV channels show only her. It creates a feeling that the Chairman of the CEC pretend to the whole "parliament". Other candidates for "deputies" do not have access to the republican mass media "- shared Tatsiana Revyako.

We already know who will occupy the "parliament"

"Regional Media promote those who were already appointed from above. After analyzing the regional newspapers, you can already tell who will be in the "parliament". A month later, people will go to the "elections", but whom to choose? Only those who is advertised by the state media. The rest are as if under a ban", - said the human rights activist.
