Prisoners congratulate Statkevich on Belarusian Military Glory Day

Inmates of the prison, where Mikalai Statkevich serves his term, chanted “Long live Belarus” on the Day of Belarusian Military Glory.

Former presidential candidate Mikalai Statkevich, an inmate of the Mahilou prison, knows that activists release fireworks near the prison on September 8 on occasion of the Day of Belarusian Military Glory. Politician's wife Maryna Adamovich says:

“There were fireworks near the prison in honour of Mikalai. He understood it. And prisoners understood it too. Inmates seem to follow the situation, because they chanted 'Long live Belarus' for Mikalai. I know it for sure.”

Maryna Adamovich says Mikalai Statkevich shares a cell with another inmate, has no complaints about his health and stays in a good mood, Radio Svaboda reports.

Former presidential candidate Mikalai Statkevich was sentenced to 6 years in prison for the events on December 19, 2010. The political prisoner serves his term in a closed prison as a persistent violator of jail rules.
