Arche magazine editor-in-chief fined

Arche magazine editor-in-chief fined

Valer Bulhakau, the editor-in-chief  of Arche magazine, was detained in Hrodna on the evening of September 14, fined and released.

He told this to his wife on the phone, BelaPAN news agency reports.

Bulhakau was detained during the presentation of the book “Sovetization of Western Belarus”. Police and tax officers burst into the building. Eyewitnesses say tax officers asked about the magazine and  ordered the editor-in-chief to get in their car. Bulhakau's friends supposed he was taken to the tax office of the Leninski district, where he was detained. They went to the tax office, but all windows in the building were dark.

Bulhakau's wife later told his friends he called her and said he had been fined and released.
