The writer Sviatalna Aleksievich told, that although she will be in Belarus on the elections day, she will not vote.
In her interview she said, that now another political show is happening. Sviatlana Aleksievich will be working on a new book “Second-hand time. The end of a red man”.
“In the circumstances, with the authorities that we have it's all false, all inappropriate. Deep down we don’t know what’s going on in the country, which powers, which people really have credit, can really do something. It’s all dabbling, all that absolute power. We live in a country, knowing nothing about the country. And why would one go and increase that? If there are still political prisoners , if the candidates are not given free speech, if there’s so much deceit, so much lie, it’s just inappropriate to participate in all that. We all got in the same trap. On the one hand, we have to do something, on the other – there’s total powerlessness and inability to do anything. I can see, that everything is paralyzed. It’s not just fear as such anymore, it’s the feeling of your own powerlessness, helplessness. And it’s almost despair. And everyone has it – the one who drive a jeep as well as the ones who can barely make both ends meet. It is some general despair of us falling out of time. Complete political and human lawlessness”, - the writer said.
