A speaker of the “council of the republic” does not see other historical ways.
The head of the “council of the republic”, Anatoly Rubinau, said in an interview with Russian News Service that the initiative to unite Russia, Ukraine and Belarus was right.
“I believe that we have no other historical ways. We are determined to merge sooner or later. We have the common destiny, common cultural roots and common interests. It wouldn't be a sin to merge amid globalization. I am sure it is the only wise way for us that should be implemented,” he said.
We remind that the coordinator of Russian movement People's Majority, Valentin Khaletski, is among initiators of a referendum on the merger of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine.
The active stage of collecting signatures for holding the referendum starts on October 2. Valentin Khaletski explains the signature collecting procedure will be unique in each country.
“It will be impossible to carry out a simultaneous and identical campaigns. It will be easier in one country, but we will met resistance in another one. One thing is promoting re-unification of our nations in Crimea, but another thing to do it in Lviv. Much will depend of a position of the authorities. For example, the speaker of the Belarusian parliament already supported our initiative. Alyaksandr Lukashenka remains silent so far, but we hope he will express his opinion soon,” the coordinator of the People's Majority movement says.
