Atlant plant workers ordered to go home due to CIS Summit

The plant Atlant, which is located opposite the Palace of Independence, declared Friday a day-off.

Friday October 25 will be a day-off at Atlant refrigerator plant in Minsk. As Nasha Niva learnt from representatives of the plant, workers will work on November 16 (Saturday) instead of October 25 (Friday).

It's a curious coincidence that the plant buildings are situated on Winners Avenue opposite the Palace of Independence, where CIS summits take place today and tomorrow.

Security measures were stepped in the centre of Minsk today.

Policemen can be seen along the town's main streets. There are traffic restrictions near the national airport and in the city centre.

Many public activists were detained by the police.
