“VIP guests” paralise Minsk airport

Planes depart and arrive with delays.

Passengers say the reason is arrival of participants of the CIS summit.

Some flights at Minsk national airport were delayed indefinitely. Belavia's plane from Minsk to Prague that was to depart at 13:40 has not left the airport yet. Passengers are not informed about the reason. Planes from Kaliningrad and Moscow landed with a delay. A plane from Homel arrived 40 minutes later than scheduled.

A plane to Paris took off with a 20-minute delay and a plane to Milan departed one hour later than scheduled.

Belavia's central office didn't tell the reason for the disruption to charter97.org. Asked if it was connected with the arrival of CIS top officials to Minsk, the company's representative answered: “We cannot comment on it.”

Police cordons controlling the flows of personal and public transport can be seen within a radius of 3 kilometres from the airport, BelaPAN news agency informs. Traffic to the airport is restricted.
