New York and Philadelphia demand to free Belarusian political prisoners

2

Actions of solidarity with Belarusian prisoners of conscience are held all over the world.

Some of them were carried out last week in European countries and Israel. This week, activists from the US held pickets to support the imprisoned opposition members and human rights defenders.

As charter97.org learnt, pickets were carried out in New York and Philadelphia by the organisations Belarusians in Exile, Pahonia and the Belarusian-American Association. Tens of people took part in the actions.

Activists held portraits of Ales Bialiatski, Mikalai Statkevich, Mikalai Autukhovich, national white-red-white flags and posters demanding to release the Belarusian political prisoners.

The initiative to support the prisoners of conscience was proposed by the civil campaign European Belarus. Organisers plan to make an album of pictures taken during the pickets and send it to the political prisoners.
