Prakapienka works for 20 thousand roubles at penal colony

Political prisoner Arciom Prakapienka met the family at the colony and said that we would not write a plea for pardon addressed to Lukashenka.

The charter97.org web-site learnt about that from his father Anatol Prakapienka.

“We met Arciom. His health is good as far as it can be at a penal colony. I went there hoping to talk him into writing a plea for pardon, but his position has not changed”, - he highlighted.

The father of the political prisoner added that they did not bring a parcel for the son, because it is not allowed at a short-term meeting.

“We just spoke. Arciom said he was still working, but earned laughable money: 20-30 thousand roubles a month (1 USD equals 9230 Belarusian roubles – editor’s note)”, - Anatol Prakapienka pointed out.

We would remind that Arciom Prakapienka is serving a prison term in the penal colony number 15 in Mahilou. In September the political prisoner was deprived of a long-term meeting, and in March this year he spent five days in a penal cell for alleged violation of the regime, where he refused to take food. Pressure was put on the political prisoner so he signed a plea for pardon, but he refused.

Arciom Prakapenka was convicted together with Jauhien Vaskovich and Paviel Syramalotau for 7 years of imprisonment for alleged attempted arson of the doors of the Babrujsk KGB headquaters.
