Dinamo Minsk downed in Magnitogorsk

Dinamo Minsk suffered a 0-3 road loss to Metallurg Magnitogorsk when the 2013-14 KHL regular season resumed following an international break due to a number of IIHF tournaments in Europe.

The guests played a solid game and kept the same level as the hosts for more than a half of the first period. The mistake on the blue line worsened the things as Minsk defenseman Ilya Shinkevich gave a perfect scoring chance to KHL’s leader in goals Danis Zaripov who raced in on a breakaway to put his team in front.

The Belarusian club had a number of power play chances but the hosts stood sharp to kill all the penalties. Back in full strength forward Jan Kovar put in the second for Metallurg Magnitogorsk with less than 4 minutes left before the second intermission.

Although Dinamo Minsk outshot the hosts 37-29, the score was not in their favor. Rinat Ibragimov made it 3-0 with five minutes before the final hooter on a power play wide shot from the blue line. Metallurg goalie Vasily Koshechkin came up big to keep the score unchanged and add another shutout to his KHL record.

With 24 points Dinamo Minsk remains 13th in the Western Conference. The Minskers will continue their road trip with stops in Chelyabinsk on 15 November, Nizhnekamsk on 17 November and Ufa on 19 November.
