Criminal case opened against activist from Rahachou

Activist Dzianis Dashkevich's home was searched.

A criminal case for “insulting representatives of the authorities” was opened in Rahachou against local activist Dzianis Dashkevich, vrogacheve.ru informs.

The activist says he learnt it on the evening of November 19 from two police officers, who entered his house and conducted a search without showing a search warrant. Two computer cases and a Beltelecom modem were seized. The policemen refused to show any documents, including those confirming that a criminal cased was opened, the press service of the Belarusian Christian Democracy party reports.

After they went away, anonymous people called Dzianis Dashkevich at 23:15, but didn't speak. The activist used his friends' computer to check his Skype account on November 20 and saw many messages from strange users saying “This is your end. You'll go to jail soon!”

His wife received a telephone call from a bank, where she took a loan to buy a camera. Representatives of the bank said she didn't pay the loan, though she has all receipts confirming she makes payments. Dzianis Dashkevich don't know if these events are interrelated. He says it might be just a coincidence or a deliberate act by the authorities.
