Head of frontier guards committee replaced because of smugglers jet?

Head of frontier guards committee replaced because of smugglers jet?

Bajechka’s dismissal may be caused by the crash of a plane carrying contraband from Belarus.

In the morning on 10 October an An-2 crashed in Valyn region, which could be carrying contraband Belarusian cigarettes from the territory of Belarus, BelPAN reports. The pilot and a passenger died. They have already been identified – these were a Valyn resident and an Odessa resident. According to Ukrainian journalists, a truck was noticed near the place of the incident, in which sacks were being loaded with cigarettes of Belarusian origin. The area around the plane’s crash was littered with cigarettes. This led to the assumption that the jet was used by smugglers.

In response to the request of a comment on the information on 11 October they claimed at the press-service of the State Frontier Guards Committee: “The information is being studied, it requires an inspection, including together with the Ukraininan party. No comments so far”.

The colonel Aliaksandr Bajechka, who has been replaced by Leanid Malcau today, was appointed the chairman of the State Frontier Guards Committee of Belarus on 2 August 2012 after the quitting of the former head of the institution Ihar Rachkouski, which was caused by the so-called “teddy bear landing force” of 4 July. A Swedish light jet flew over Belarus’ territory for around one and a half hours. Over Minsk and Ivianiec it dropped hundreds teddy bears. The action was organized to support the freedom of speech in Belarus.
