Mahilou resident gets 3 days in custody for “Stop Tax” protests

Mahilou's Kastrychnitski district court sentenced Anton Kastsou, a member of the “Stop Tax” group, to three days in custody on December 26.

Users of VKontakte social network were discussing the possibility of holding the second protest action on December 27 against the new car tax, BelaPAN new agency reports.

The police charged Anton Kastsou with violating part 1 of article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offences (violating the rules of organising and holding mass events) and seized his laptop on December 24.

The activist's mother says the trial was held today, but she didn't attend it. “He was summoned to a police station. I don't know in details what happened after that. He called me later and said he would be taken into custody for three days,” the mother of the activist said.

Anton Kastsou was to visit the Kastrychnitski district police department in Mahilou on December 26. Police officers were going to study his correspondence on the Internet.

The police demanded the activist on December 24 to delete the group “Stop Fear” that give a start to the group “Stop Tax”. Anton Kastsou deleted his comments from the group, because, as he says, he was just an ordinary member of the group, not a founder. The group was deleted by its founder from another town on the same day.
