Anatol Lyabedzka: Vasilyeu's case reveals KGB's special monetary reserves

They were used to give a $250,000 bribe to a municipal official.

Politician Anatol Lyabedzka gave this opinion on his Facebook account.

The case of Vasilyeu reveals that the KGB has special monetary reserves, which were used to give $250,000 as a 'bribe' for a municipal official. It is possible that the fund is formed by seized money, or in simple terms, by stealing money of opposition-minded people by KGB officers.

The KGB will perhaps return me my money and belongings when the trial over Vasilyeu is over. Or are they going to offer a bribe to other officials? the politician asks.

It should be reminded that the secret services often seized money from opposition activists during raids and searches. As a rule, they refused to return property to owners on contrived pretexts.

Ihar Vasilyeu, the deputy chairman of the Minsk city executive committee led by Mikalai Ladutka, was sentenced to 14 years in prison yesterday.
