Trial over Varlamov: Victims say about pressure from investigators

The trial over fashion designer Sasha Varlamov continues in Minsk's Leninski court.

Eights people sit in the courtroom – three journalists, Varlamov's sister and victims, Radio Svaboda reports.

The court has been hearing evidence by victims for the last few weeks. Most of them don't have financial claims to Varlamov, but some want to receive the money that was spent as daily allowance in foreign trips.

Many said in the court that investigators had pressed on them during questionings to obtain the necessary evidence against Varlamov.

Sasha Varlamov only pleaded guilty to tax evasion charges.

Sasha Varlamov has been in custody since May 2012. He is charged with large-scale frauds, embezzlement on a large scale, appropriation of property and tax evasion. More than 800 people were questioned in the case as witnesses. 353 people were found victims.
