Lukashenka will take part in the funeral of Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez in Caracas.
The information was spread by his press service.
“Taking into account the particularly friendly nature and the strategic level of Belarusian-Venezuelan relations, Alyaksandr Lukashenka has decided to attend the funeral ceremony for president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Hugo Chavez in Caracas,” the dictator's press service notes.
Lukashenka is reported to have taken a decision to fly to Caracas “despite a number of forthcoming international visits and a busy work schedule”.
“The step has been caused by the fact that Hugo Chavez’ ties with foreign leaders had never been as close and friendly as the ties with Lukashenka. Thanks to the friendship of the two leaders our countries have managed to achieve impressive results in the development of relations in all spheres within a comparatively short time,” the press service reports.
The traditional reception on occasion of the Women's Day has been postponed.
