Mogilevliftmash: Humiliating extortions and starvation wages

A practice of extorting money for “good deeds” from the most vulnerable social classes has become a tradition for the authorities.

Charter97.org reported yesterday about the exodus of Mogilevliftmash workers to Russia for work due to low wages on the plant.

Low salaries is not the only reason for leaving a job. Another cause is attitude of the plant management towards personnel.

Local ideologists do not scruple to slip their hands in workers' pockets to take money for “lotteries, monuments, large families and veterans”.

The latest example is extortion  of money free-will donations to the Belarusian Peace Fund. It turned out that the “free-will donations” allow the regional branch of the Fund to to spend more resources on social programmes.

The initiative of Mahilou's Leninski district administration was enthusiastically supported by Mogileliftmash's deputy director responsible for ideology Lebiadzeuski, who ordered to collect donations for the Belarusian Peace Fund by May 1. Charter97.org received this information from a worker of the plant.

Of course, no one asked if workers want to share their small incomes with the fund, the website's reader says.
