Barysau traders threaten with strike and win concessions

The administration of a marketplace agreed with demands of sole traders.

The people working on the city market threatened to launch a strike over the planned increase in rent fees by 102%. On April 17, about 300 traders started work 1.5 hours later. They demanded not to raise rent fees by more than 60%, Euroradio reports.

All deputy chairs of the Barysau city executive committee came to our district consumer cooperative two days after the strike. They gathered all people and shouted at the market top management for unwillingness to make concessions to us. They agreed on a 60% increase,” local sole trader Aliaksandr says.

Aliaksandr pays for his stall (27.8 square metres) about 1,300,000 rubles per month. If the rent fee had been increased in May by 102%, he would pay 2,700,000 rubles.
