Fire in a mental hospital near Moscow: dozens of people died

Neither the patients, nor the staff have managed to escape from the building because of metallic grilles on the windows.

The fire started at night and the patients were fast asleep due to the effect of medicines. Only three people survived – a nurse and two patients.

The Russian police think that the fire could be caused by a short circuit, RIA Novosti reports.  

The fire was noticed immediately, rescuers say: the fire alarm went off in the building. The nurse went to the corridor and saw a patient and fire there. The woman tried to extinguish the fire at first but then she understood that she would not be able to do it. She led two patients out of the burning building.
