Independent journalists detained in Minsk

After the Charnobyl Way manifestation ended, journalists Genadz Barbarych and Aliaksandr Jarashevich were detained.

They were taken to Soviet district’s police department, the press-service of the Belarusian Association of Journalists reports.

Genadz Barbarych and Aliaksandr Jarashevich managed to inform about their detention over the phone. After that the connection with them disappeared.

A traditional manifestation Charnobyl Way took place on 26th of April in Minsk. Despite that the authorities allowed the manifestation, famous Belarusian ecologists were detained several hours before the event. Arrests continued during the action too. In particular, several participants of the manifestation and journalists were detained in the Balgalor square area.
