Belarusian lecturers to be replaced by foreigners

Belarus wants to attract highly paid foreign lecturers to Belarusian state universities.

Decree No. 362 of the Council of Ministers sets the order of payment for their work at the expense of state funds. The hourly rate for a foreign specialist working for a state university reaches 300% of the first class wage rate (which is 250,000 since April 1, 2013). So, the maximum hourly rate for a foreign lecturer will be Br750,000 ($86.5).

The decree says the particular payment rate is set by the university rector.

The government is ready to compensate for travel and accommodation expenses for foreign specialists.

The decree says foreign specialists need to have achievements and a good knowledge of innovative methods and technologies in relative spheres.

According to official statistics, Belarusian lecturers earn about 4 million rubles per month.
