The last activist of independent trade union dismissed from "Granitе"

Another free trade union activist loses job in Mikashevichy.

Leanid Dubanosau, excavator operator at the major “Granite” state-owned enterprise, learned this last evening when he first went to work after a holiday, but was not admitted to his working place for the night shift.

The chief of the guard told the trade union activist that his contract of employment had been terminated back on 16 May. However, the official failed to produce any documents that would confirm these words. In turn, Leanid Dubanosau invited witnesses to document the incident when he was not allowed to start work.

It should be noted that until recently Leanid Dubanosau was the only one of the founders of the Belarusian independent trade union’s office at “Granite” in Mikashevichy, Brest region, who had worked directly in this plant. All other activists of the union, opposed by the company’s management for almost six months, have already lost their jobs and were unable to win reinstatement through the courts.
