Freedom to Bialatski! in streets of Istanbul

In Turkey they demand to release the Belarusian human rights activist.

The participants of the 38th Congress of the International Human Rights Federation (FIDH), which has started today in Istanbul, organized a procession with the demand to release their colleagues political prisoners – a Belarusian Ales Bialatski, FIDH’s vice-president, and Nabil Radjab from Bahrain, a deputy Secretary General of FIDH.

A deputy chairman of the human rights center Viasna Valancin Stefanovich reports about that from Istanbul, who is taking part in the work of the Congress these days, Viasna’s web-site says.

“After the first part of today’s Congress event ended, the participants of the event went in the streets chanting the slogans “Freedom to Ales!”, “Freedom to Nabil!”, they also demand to release Turkish journalists and human rights activists, who are now in jail for political reasons”, - Stefanovich told over the phone.

We would remind that on 23-27 May Istanbul hosts the 38th Congress of the International Human Rights Federation (FIDH), which is attended by the representative of over 200 NGOs from 130 countries. The event’s main topic is “Political transition processes and human rights: experience and challenges”.
