US Department of State has lifted sanctions from Beltekhexport

US sanctions against the Belarusian company Beltekhexport have been lifted.

The respective information has been published on the State Department’s web-site on 24 May.

We would remind that the US Department of State introduced sanctions against Beltekhexport on 14 July 2010 for violating the Non-proliferation act regarding Iran, North Korea and Syria. In May 2011 the sanctions were prolonged, Nasha Niva reports.

The European Union’s sanctions against this company are still in force as well as against other companies, which are considered by the EU to be controlled by Uladzimir Pefcieu. In the meantime, a year ago Pefcieu terminated his participation in the Beltekh Holding. A Russian businessman Dzmitry Hurynovich has become the new owner of the controlling interest. Experts believe that the change of the owner was an attempt to lead the Beltekh Holding out of the European Union’s sanctions, since in the EU Uladzimir Pefcieu is considered the chief financial sponsor of Lukashenka’s regime.

Thus, now US sanctions are applied to companies BelOMO, Servisiz, research and development enterprise Radar, a number of enterprises of the state concer Belneftekhim, banks with Iranian assets – Onerbank (now NordEuropa Bank) and Bank Trading Capital.
