Political prisoner Hajdukou transferred to Viciebsk

Accused of a state treason Andrej Hajdukou will be put on trial in Viciebsk regional court.

His mother Volha Hajdukova informed the charter97.org web-site about that.

“Andrej will be soon transported under guard to Viciebsk. His case will be considered by Viciebsk regional court, but for what I know, he is still in Minsk”, - the political prisoner’s mother noted.

She added that the documents have already been sent to court.

“The investigation must have ended on 17 May, but it was prolonged for another month, which means until 17 June. On Friday the lawyer visited Andrej, and we sent a parcel with food and personal hygiene items. They will not still allow me to meet son. I already applied to the senior investigator, but my appeal was rejected. Now, once the case’s documents have been sent to court, I will once again try to receive permission for a meeting”, - Volha Hajdukova emphasized.

We would remind that according to official information, Andrej Hajdukou was detained “while he was putting information of interest for foreign special services in a hiding place”. Many consider this accusation absurd. The European Belarus civic campaign put forward a statement, which said that the activist had been detained for disseminating Charter’97 newspapers.

Human rights activists link the persecution of Hajdukou to his oppositional views and explain it as an attempt to intimidate youth activists.
