Political prisoner Lobau denied dental treatment in prison

The authorities of penal colony No. 22 in Ivatsevichy have been denying dental treatment to political prisoner Eduard Lobau for 18 months.

Charter97.org has learnt it from his mother Maryna Lobava.

I arranged with a lawyer to visit the penal colony on May 8, if Eduard doesn't phone by this time. His latest telephone call was in early April. He said he had sent us a letter. We haven't received it yet,” the political prisoner's mother said.

She stressed her son had made an appointment with the dentist in March.

He was to get dental fillings, but I learnt from our latest phone conversation that it had not been done. I asked why and Eduard said: 'It's long to explain.' Problems with medical care in the penal colony still remain,” Maryna Lobava said.

Young Front activist Eduard Lobau was to four years of imprisonment on accusations of hooliganism. He serves his term in the penal colony in Ivatsevichy. He and Young Front leader Zmitser Dashkevich were charged with beating two men in Minsk. The incident took place a day before the presidential elections. The two “victims” refused to show their faces to public during the trial. Lobau and Dashkevich said the fight had been orchestrated by the secret services.
