The Minsk City Hall requires a proper shake-up to make officials there work better, Aliaksandr Lukashenka said on Friday when meeting with the working group to address problems in the construction sector.

"Minsk City Executive Committee consists of corrupt officials in the high-ranking positions. Let them not get offended. There is evidence, and the former first deputy chairman is currently in prison. Bribes amount to $250 000! This is huge money that speaks for itself", - he said .

He stressed the problems in the construction sector in Minsk, because everything begins from the capital. "Minsk should be shaken properly so that noone else wanted to engage in wrong-doing!" - stressed Lukashenka.

He also pointed to the critical situation in the construction sector and demanded that all systemic problems be solved.

"The situation in the construction industry is not just alarming; it is becoming critical…" - he said.

Lukashenka reminded that an ad hoc group was set up to investigate all the wrong-doings in the sector.
