Ukrainian journalists blocked in Rada building because of Lukashenka’s paranoia

Journalists cannot leave the parliament’s building.

A reporter of the 5th TV channel Olga Snisarchuk reported about that on her Facebook account.

“Lukashenka has blocked Rada. For journalists to exit. We are staying in corridors, forbidden to come out to the street, until he passes the red carpet”, - she posted.

Exactly a month ago Olga Snisarchuk was beaten by unidentified people when covering a multi-thousand action of protest, held by Ukrainian opposition in the center of Kiev.

A photographer of the Kommersant-Ukraine Vlad Sodel is also posting on the increased security measures due to Lukashenka’s visit, which have long become a tradition in Belarus, but still look unusual to Kiev’s residents.

“They used to take away cell phones from photographers in Bankovaya Street only at the very entrance to the hall for official delegations, but everyone could always use phones in the press-room. And now, for you to understand all the marasmus, they took away even USB-sticks and USD-modems from us, but they allow laptops and tablets it. We have not been let out for 20 minutes already, the paranoia continues. This is all because Lukashenka has come to see Yanukovich”, - he says.

Lukashenka flew in to Kiev yesterday. FEMEN activists met him with a night actions with torches and slogans supporting Belarusian political prisoners. Today the ruler met Viktar Yanukovich. They ratified the agreement on the state border 16 years after it had been signed. The Ukrainian president agreed to pay the ‘debt’ of 134 million dollars for that”.
