Jermakova: There will be no devaluation like in 2011

But in a denomination is quite possible in 2014.

During a hot-line session with the editorial office of the Narodnaya Gazeta Nadzieja Jermakova told about the National Bank’s plans for the nearest future. In particular, she spoke on the possibility of devaluation and denomination of the Belarusian rouble.

“There are no prerequisites for devaluation like the one we had in 2011”, - the head of the National Bank said.

At the same time Jermakova claimed that it will be possible to speak of denomination in 2014.

“If everything is ok with inflation, it will be possible to speak of denomination next year”, - Jermakova said.

The head of the National Bank of Belarus also claimed the “necessity to carefully decrease the prime rate”, which will be possible only in the case respective conditions are created in the economy.

“One should not rush into decreasing the prime rate, this can only happen in certain conditions in the economy”, - Jermakova said.

Speaking of the future creditor of Belarus, the National Bank’s head stated that it would not be the Eurasian Economic Community’s anti-crisis fund. At the same time Jermakova did not specify, whom the authorities were going to borrow from this time.

“Belarus so far is not planning on asking for other loans from the anti-crisis fund of the EEC”, - she said.

We would remind that the former head of the National Bank Piotr Prakapovich came forward with statements on the absence of prerequisites for devaluation just on the eve of the crisis that struck Belarus two years ago.

“While I am the chairman of the board of the National Bank, there will never be any one-time abrupt devaluation”, - he claimed in March 2011.

The Belarusian ruler said the same. Before the devaluation of 2009 and the one after the presidential elections of 2010 alike Lukashenka claimed that there were no reasons to be alarmed.

As to Nadzieja Jermakova, then she makes statements that everything is well in the Belarusian economy and there will be no devaluation or denomination at almost every press-conference.
