Ukrainian TV derides Lukashenka

Kolia and his father became heroes of a satirical show on Ukrainian television.

The latest issue of Michael Shchur's show But There's One But on UkrLIfeTV was devoted to Lukashenka's visit to Kyiv. The show host analysed the behavior of Kolia, his dad and some Ukrainian officials and came to interesting conclusions.

“The visit of the Belarusian ruler was the number one political event in Ukraine. Despite a tight schedule, Kolia Lukashenka visited Kyiv too. Kolia himself. Nine-year-old Kolia. Do you think his father rules Belarus? No. Look at these pictures: Kolia with Hugo Chavez, Kolia with the Pope. He inspects a military parade and meets with Dmitry Medvedev,” the journalist said showing relative pictures.

Michael Shchur turned attention to some details of Lukashenka's visit to the Ukrainian capital.

“Kolia decided not to hold meetings in Kyiv. He had a special programme. Kolia and his security guards visited St.Sophia's Cathedral. He is said to hold a grudge against Yanukovych junior, who didn't allow him to beep his car's horn. Meantime, Kolia's dad had a meeting with the Ukrainian president. One of Lukashenka's aims was selling Belarusian tractors to Ukraine. He met with ministers, one of whom showed Lukashenka his tongue,” the journalist said.

Lukashenka arrived in Kyiv on June 17. Activists of FEMEN movement held a night protest with torches and slogans to support Belarusian political prisoners. The ruler met with Viktor Yanukovych on June 18. They ratified the treaty on the state border 16 years after it had been signed. The Ukrainian president agreed to pay a “debt” of 134 million dollar for the ratification.
