Prosecutor’s office warned Belsat journalist

A journalist Ales Silich received an official warning for cooperating with the independent TV channel.

The reason for that was the absence of official accreditation for Belsat in Belarus. The warning was made by the prosecutor’s office of Smalevichy district of Minsk region. The journalist received a subpoena requiring him to show up at the prosecutor’s office for “a conversation” on 29 May.

According to Ales Silich, during the meeting at the Smalevichy prosecutor’s pffice he did not answer to the questions related to his cooperation with Belsat, having used his right not to testify against himself.

We would remind that apart from him a journalist Volha Chajchyc was also called “for a conversation”. A warning was also made to her on 30 May.

The journalists link the summoning to the prosecutor’s office with their presence at the public discussion of the project of the Chinese-Belarusian industrial park near Smalevichy. It took place on 13 April this year. Local summer residents and opposition activists were present at the meeting.

Then a policeman wrote down their passport data and promised to “deal with it”.
