Edward Snowden, the alleged National Security Agency leaker, said Friday at a meeting with human rights groups at a Moscow airport that he is seeking temporary political asylum in Russia.

He did it as a means for seeking permament status in a Latin American country.

Snowden says the government in Western Europe and North American are are acting outside the law bypreventing him from traveling.

The United States has revoked Snowden's passport.
