Quiet business of Lukashenka clan

Why does the name of Lukashenka's middle son appear in media so rarely?

Anatol Liabedzka, the head of the United Civil Party (UCP), spoke to charter97.org about the construction of a big business centre in Minsk by a company belonging to Dzmitry Lukashenka, the middle son of the Belarusian dictator.

“If some companies not specialising in business itself (for example, the Presidential Sports Club) join the business, we can suspect that they lobby for someone's interests. The tendering process was scarcely open. It was held in secret. If someone from the Lukashenka family appears, it means as a rule that corruption is involved in the deal,” the politician is confident.

He stressed that the parliament, public, the Prosecutor General's Office, the Interior Ministry and the State Control Committee had no control over such schemes.

“Under law prosecution agencies must react to such publications. Maybe it will give them a ground to pay more attention to this commercial project. Lukashenka's son have different duties: Viktar is responsible for security while Dmitry deals with various projects. One can appear in public as a key person in security services while the other runs businesses, and business likes silence,” the UCP leader thinks.

He is sure it is the reason why we don't see Dmitry Lukashenka, who prefers to keep a low profile, on TV.

“We know that the Presidential Sports Club has a certain relation to a golf club construction, an expensive and uneasy project. We shouldn't forget about Sport-Pari and a lottery business. But we know only a small part. Much information doesn't leak to public. The Lukashenka clan is going to expand activities. If free election is not held in Belarus in the nearest time and the system of checks and balances is not created, we have all chances to wake up in the country belonging to Chinese communists, Russian oligarchs and one Belarusian family,” Anatol Liabedzka said.

It should be reminded that a company belonging to Dmitry Lukashenka constructs Minsk's biggest business centre Green City.
