Salary in dead calves

The workers of the Young Guard collective farm received dead calves as a salary for half a year.

Officers of the State Control Committee found an unusual way of labour reward in Brest region during an unscheduled inspection, the Soviet Belorussia reports.

From January to June 108 head of young cattle were registered as payments. The dead animals were given to the workers according to the instruction by the head of the enterprise in order to conceal the cattle mortality. Although, the payments only existed on paper.

But that is not all. In spring the farm had to kill 24 cows. The semi-carcasses were put for storage not in a refrigerator, but in a vegetable store. Recently epidemiologists made the conclusion: 4.2 tons of meat worth of 60.9 million roubles needed to be urgently utilized.

At the Young Guard farm they even managed to ‘feed’ the dead animals: the stern and milk are registered as used at the total amount of 10 million roubles.

The director of the Young Guard has been fired. 23 employees of the agricultural enterprise are held responsible for discipline violations. The farm has been fined.

Belarusian enterprises do not have money to pay their workers. Earlier they would pay workers in canned products and tinned stewed meat because of the lack of money.
