Witness: Planeta’s director was chased by policemen in flak jackets

New details of the death of the director of the Planeta hotel Valer Ahirenka came up.

It became known today that he threw himself out of a window.

The public corporation Planeta Hotel belongs to the administration of Aliaksandr Lukashenka. Since January 2013 the administration has been headed by Viktar Shejman, who is accused of being involved in political murders in Belarus.

The tragedy happened on 24 July at 10 a.m. According to police, the body of Valer Ahirenka was found near the building in Sadovaja Street in Minsk, where he lived.

“An inspection is being carried out. Witnesses are questioned, different versions of what happened are checked, including suicide”, - a representative of the Investigatory Committee for Minsk Julija Hancharova said.

Radio Svaboda found one of the witnesses of the incident. The resident of the same house in Sadovaja Street told:

“The man threw himself out after unusual policemen came to him in flak jackets. I heard them speaking downstairs and looked out of the window. And suddenly one of them shouted: “He is running! He is running”. Then I heard the sound of something heavy beating against the ground. I looked out and saw a man only wearing underwear in blood. There was also blood on his hands. The man was still breathing. The policemen called the ambulance, which came in 8-10 minutes, but the man, apparently died. Policemen spoke among themselves that in his apartment everything was in blood in the bathroom, there were bloody knives, and he had apparently cut his veins”.

Valer Ahirenka lived on the 8th floor. According to doctors, he died at the scene of the incident.
