“Holiday” not for all

Three activists of the National Bolshevik Movement were detained in Minsk ahead of the parade.

National Bolshevik members Dzmitry Paliyenka, Aliaksandr Paliakou and Dzianis Haurykau were detained on the evening of July 2 by plainclothes men on suspicion of robbery.

The activists were taken to the Kastrychnitski district police department and accused of violating article 17.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences (swearing in public), National Bolshevik activists wrote on social networking sites.

Paliakou was set free as a minor.

It is not the first case of preventive detention of National Bolshevik activists ahead of official holidays and visits by foreign heads of state.

The case against Dzmitry Paliyenka and Dzianis Haurykau was heard today in Minsk's Kastrychnitski district court.

The judge sentenced both men to two days in custody.
