Brestgazoapparat plant has stopped working: all the workers sent on holidays

The enterprise’s storehouses are filled with surplus stock.

One of the workers told the charter97.org web-site about the critical situation at the Brestgazoapparat plant, which produces equipment under Gefest brand.

“Next week the plant is not working. We were told that everyone was being sent on holidays. The reason is that a huge surplus stock has piled up in storehouses”, - the Brestgazoapparat’s employee told.

A similar situation has emerged at another large enterprise of the region’s capital – a public corporation Brest Carpets. The storehouses are filled with stock, and the due holiday pays are being paid with a delay. As it became known on Friday, the enterprise’s management suggested some employees from some workshops to go on LWOP from 8 to 14 July.

We would note that Brestgazoapparat was considered one of the most successful and prestigious companies of the region’s capital. In 1994 it saw an IPO and a joint Belarusian-Russian enterprise has been created. A Russian enterprise Gazprom own the controlling interest of 51%, 29.9% belong to the Belarusian government, and the rest belongs to individuals.

Brestgazoapparat is stopped for the second time this year already. The plant did not work for half a month in April due to the problems with the sale of the products.

From the beginning of 2013 many large Belarusian plants periodically introduced a shortened working week, others sent workers on mothballs. This is caused by the problems with selling the produced goods.
