Author of films about MAZ put into custody

Ruslan Mirzoeu got 7 days in jail for his new film.

A former worker shot his first video at MAZ (Minsk Automobile Plant). Mirzoeu, a professional boxer, was sent to work at the plant on the order of a correctional facility, where he was serving a term of punishment for a robbery. After the video appeared on the internet, Ruslan Mirzoeu was asked to resign voluntary, ONT TV channel reports.

He launched a new project – “The Chronicles of a City District”, or “Kurasoushchyna Ghetto”. The author uses strong language to assure he will disclose the whole truth about his district. The film contains interviews with drug addicts, brawls and robberies, a conversation with a prostitute and a promise to show a murder next time. The film appeared on YouTube, but was then removed.

The police detained Mirzoeu in connection with the video and asked to explain the crimes shown in the film. The author said all scenes in the film were staged. One of the actors, who “forced unlucky passers-by to give over their money and mobile phones”, was called to the police as well.

The filmmaker would face a long jail sentence if the crimes were real. However, foul language in the video was enough to put Mirzoeu into custody for 7 days.
