How much is Lukashenka’s new residence?

United Civic Party addressed the Finance Minister Andrej Kharkaviec with this question.

United Civic Party keeps developing the anti-corruption topic and the issue of privileges of the authorities’ representatives. The leader of the UCP Anatol Liabiedzka send a request addressed to Belarus’ Finance Minister Andrej Kharkaviec, which contained a number of questions regarding the construction of Aliaksandr Lukashenka’s new residence.

“At the crossroads of Pieramozhcau Avenue and Arlouskaja Street intensive construction is taking place of a new residence for the Belarusian ruler. As they have counted at the editorial office of the Voice of Reason information bulletin, this one will the already 12th in total. This is taking place during the year, proclaimed to be the year of savings, - Anatol Liabiedzka told ucpb.org. – One and a half years ago the authorities hypocritically assured that the new building was not a residence. Even today one may see banners, telling that the renovation of the exhibition center BelExpo is taking place there.

There is not enough money to provide people with good quality health care, to build waste management plants, to solve the parking problem, but there is enough to satisfy the whims of one person. This is a challenge for all the taxpayers, all the citizens of the country. I am asking the Finance Minister, who made the decision to build the residence? How much the improvement of Aliaksandr Lukashenka’s housing conditions costs people? These are normal, natural questions. We will keep asking them, until we get a clear and honest answer”.
