Russian oligarch has an eye on Belarusian cement plants

A holding Eurocement Group, controlled by a Russian billionaire Filaret Galchev, has shown interest in Belarusian enterprises.

A meeting took place in Mahilou between the chairman of the regional executive committee Piotr Rudnik and the president of the Russian Eurocement Group holding Mikhail Skarahod. They visited Krychaucementnoshyfer and Belarusian Cement Plant, Mahillou region executive committee’s press-service reports.

The parties are interested in close cooperation.

“Considering the Russian holding’s advanced experience in managing cement assets, we will be glad to establish a partnership in the framework of exploitation of new production lines with the purpose of lowering the production cost price and using alternative types of fuel”. – Piotr Rudnik noted.

In his turn Mikhail Skarahod said that he did not see Mahilou cement producers as competitors.

“Belarus and Russia alike are the members of the Customs Union, which means that we are ready to provide the necessary support for the Belarusian colleagues both in using the advanced manufacturing practices as well as developing the construction materials branch in general”, - the holding’s head highlighted.

The holding Eurocement Group is in top-ten largest cement companies in the world and unites 16 cement plants in Russia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan, and also plants producing concrete, reinforced concrete items, non-metallic materials opencast mines and also enterprises for industrial construction.
