Lukashenka: ‘Do not weep – there will be no money’

Sport is suggested to survive in the conditions of total savings.

“Money will be paid, very big money, for a result. No result – no money”, - Lukashenka claimed on Thursday in Minsk at a meeting on the problems of a Belarusian physical culture and sports association Dynamo and the ways to solve them.

The ruler noted that “a certain time had passed after the adoption of the basic decisions on income adjustments for sportsmen and the number of the discontented grew significantly”. “What are they unhappy about? The state does not give them money: they would want to be paid $10 thousand, some hockey players demand that, and they are paid only $2 thousand”, - he continued. “We will only may for a person to be able to practice for championships and competitions, and the main income they will get for a result: not for 21st or 41st place at the world championship in athletics, but for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc., for this person’s perspective”, - Lukashenka emphasized.

“Many would say: I have to work hard and live before a championship comes. For you to live and work hard there is a respective salary rate for you, and then – according to the outcomes”, - the dictator said. “Do not come crying, do not weep: there will no longer be insane money in sports”, - he warned. “You give a result – you receive insane money, no result – no money”, - Lukashenka emphasized once again.

He also criticized Belarus’ sports clubs functioning principles. “We have turned to the clubs system. Some used to play ball in the streets, run with a hockey stick, now they have become officials in clubs”, - the dictator said. “There are a hundred officials in the club and a small team of 20-30 sportsmen, 3 coaches”, - he continued. “Who gets the major money? Clubs’ officials. God grant such salaries for ministers”, - he emphasized.

Due to that he claimed: “A club is an enterprise: it must earn money. You spend as much as you’ve earned”. “Budget subsidies should be sent only to sportsmen, only to coaches, doctors and several specialists, servicemen”, - Lukashenka said. “Also children sports, for which we are responsible and without which there is no big sport”, - he added. “All the rest should make money themselves”, - the ruler concluded.
